Probably the best thing that could be said about today’s Orioles game is that it’s over.
In a game that featured a season-high four errors, shaky starting pitching, mental mistakes and overall lackluster play, the Los Angeles Angels beat the Orioles 7-1 to complete a three-game sweep.
The Orioles have now allowed 38 runs during a five-game losing streak and fall to 47-77 on the year. They are 17-46 for a winning percentage of just .270 since June 10.

The Orioles have now allowed 38 runs during a five-game losing streak and fall to 47-77 on the year. They are 17-46 for a winning percentage of just .270 since June 10.
They have now lost eight of 10 and 17 of the last 22 games. The Orioles are just 5-14 in August.
Brian Matusz saw Blake Davis, playing third base, make two errors behind him (he later made a third), a fly ball to left get lost in the sun by Felix Pie for a double and Craig Tatum throw a ball into left field trying to gun down a runner stealing third.
Despite that, he did not pitch well, allowing eight hits and six runs (five earned) over four innings, throwing 84 pitches. In two starts since coming back from Triple-A, Matusz has pitched 10 2/3 innings, allowing 16 hits and 12 runs (11 earned).
The Orioles did not score until Matt Wieters hit a solo homer in the seventh. That was his 12th of the year. Wieters went 6-for-12 with three RBIs in the series. Nick Markakis went 2-for-4 and is batting .452 (14-for-31) during a seven-game batting streak.
After a game that had to easily rank among their worst all year, the Orioles fall to 1-5 on this 10-game road trip which concludes with a four-game series against Minnesota that begins Monday night.
