Tomorrow afternoon, the Orioles have invited 25 finalists to Camden Yards to audition for the opportunity to be the new public address announcer at the stadium. The new voice will replace Dave McGowan, the longtime PA announcer who announced in December that new job requirements would prevent him from returning to the role he had held for 14 seasons.
The search for a new voice of Camden Yards attracted more than 670 applicants, and that list was whittled down to 25 finalists by a committee of O’s front office staff members. The finalists include Maryland residents and those from outside the state, professional broadcasters, and applicants who auditioned at FanFest last month.
The PA announcer’s responsibilities include delivering all public address greetings, player introductions and other gameday announcements. The PA announcer works closely with Orioles Productions staff to create a fan-friendly and entertaining experience for fans at Camden Yards.
