The Orioles have lost another starting pitcher.

The team announced this evening that left-hander Trevor Rogers went on the 15-day injured list with an undisclosed illness. The move is retroactive to Sunday.

Reliever Cameron Foster is recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to give the team an extra reliever for Thursday’s doubleheader against the Astros at Camden Yards. The Orioles also can add a 27th man.

Rogers was lined up to pitch Friday night against the Yankees in the opener of a four-game series in the Bronx. Kyle Bradish would have gone Saturday but could work on normal rest if the Orioles don’t come up with another plan.

The 2026 season hasn’t gone as intended for Rogers since the Orioles named him their Opening Day starter. He’s registered a 4.75 ERA and 1.451 WHIP in six outings, and in the last three he’s surrendered 12 earned runs (13 total) and 19 hits in 11 1/3 innings.

Rogers lasted only 1 2/3 against the Red Sox on Saturday and allowed three runs and four hits. He threw 47 pitches in the second inning, which forced his removal as a precaution.

The earliest that Rogers can return is May 11.

Dean Kremer went on the 15-day injured list retroactive to April 20 with a right quadriceps strain. Brandon Young replaced him as the No. 5 starter in the rotation and he’s working Game 2 of Thursday’s doubleheader.

Zach Eflin underwent Tommy John surgery, ending his return to the Orioles after one start and 3 2/3 innings.

Foster was optioned Saturday when the Orioles reinstated left-hander Keegan Akin from the 15-day injured list. He’s eligible to return early because he’s replacing an injured player.

Foster had appeared in four games and allowed four earned runs (five total)  and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings, with five walks and seven strikeouts.

Also, Albert Suárez cleared outright waivers and elected free agency in lieu of accepting an outright assignment to Norfolk, but he’s expected to sign another minor league deal with the Orioles.

The same thing happened with catcher Sam Huff, who stayed in the organization by signing a minor league contract on Saturday.

Suárez was designated for assignment Sunday when closer Ryan Helsley was reinstated from the family emergency medical list.

Note: According to the team’s transactions page, the Orioles signed left-handers Zac Lampton and Anthony Steele and shortstop Maicor Degollado to minor league deals.

Lampton, 25, pitched at Florida International University and made 47 relief appearances last year in the independent Pioneer League, where he had a 2.90 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 49 2/3 innings. Steele, 23, was a pitcher/first baseman at Penn State who spent last year in the MLB Draft League. Degollado, 17, played in the Dominican Republic amateur scouting league.
