In 31 games last year, Angle hit .177 with one homer, seven RBIs, 12 runs and 11 stolen bases in 12 chances. He hit his first major league homer off Detroit’s Justin Verlander on September 24.
Angle played at every stop in the O’s farm system between Aberdeen and Norfolk before making his big league debut last July 17 against Cleveland. He had a career minor league on-base percentage of .372 as a leadoff hitter in the minors.
At Triple-A last season, the 26-year-old Angle hit .271 with four homers, 33 RBIs, a .347 on-base percentage and stole 27-of-30 bases for the Tides. He hit .340 during June and July.
He figured to have a chance to make this year’s Orioles’ opening day roster but the club signed outfielders Jai Miller and Endy Chavez over the winter and then he was designated for assignment leading to today’s news that he is headed to the Dodgers.
