Manager Buck Showalter told reporters that Ohlman appeared to be fine, but doctors were checking the catcher’s right shoulder.

“He’s got some discomfort there,” Showalter said. “We’re just happy that it isn’t anything life threatening.”

“He’s got some discomfort there,” Showalter said. “We’re just happy that it isn’t anything life threatening.”

Ohlman, who played in 105 games with Single-A Delmarva last summer, was brought to camp because of a shortage of catchers, and the Orioles were preparing to send him out. Ronny Paulino still hasn’t reported because of visa issues, and the club may bring in another catcher. Caleb Joseph already has been added to the roster.

Tsuyoshi Wada and Willie Eyre will throw bullpen sessions at 11:30 a.m. Wada has been receiving treatment for inflammation in his left elbow. Eyre strained his right groin muscle.

Taylor Teagarden, who underwent two surgeries on his right knee over the winter, caught five innings yesterday in Fort Myers and doesn’t appear to have any restrictions.

“He feels good,” Showalter said. “We’ve been very cautious with him. He caught three or four before that in intrasquad. He’s going every other day and we’ll stay with that for a while. The (athletic) training staff and everybody’s done a great job with that. We had to make a few adjustments with it before spring and he came down early and got it managed real well here and got anything we might have been worried about out of there.

“It was a potential issue for us coming in and so far it seems to have resolved itself pretty well. But there was a lot of good rehab and evaluation that had to be done to get it to this point. It’s encouraging that he’s not having any issues with it.”

Nick Johnson’s right wrist hasn’t bothered him since he got to camp.

“Nicks said to me early that the real test for him was going to be the first time he swings and misses,” Showalter said. “Sure enough, his first at-bat here in an intrasquad game he swung and missed, and he looked over at me and (motioned that he was OK.)

“It’s the first time he’s had no pain after a swing and miss or a foul ball in two years.”

Also, Showalter will sit down with executive vice president Dan Duquette and discuss roster cuts that may come within the next few days.
