On Friday, February 26, O’s pitcher Chris Tillman will appear at the Opening Day festivities for the Cal Ripken Baseball League in Sarasota.
Tillman will be accompanied by the Oriole Bird, and the pair will greet Ripken League players and fans at 6:00 p.m. until Tillman throws out the first pitch at 6:45 to open the Cal Ripken League season in Sarasota.
If you’re looking to plug this one into your Garmin, the address is 2801 12th Street, Sarasota, Fla.
Then, just a few days later, the O’s will hold a fundraiser and clinic for the Boys and Girls Clubs at Ed Smith Stadium on Monday, March 1.
The Orioles will play an intrasquad game at 12:30 p.m. (which is free and open to the general public), and fans can make donations to the Boys and Girls Clubs at the gates and throughout the game. The team will also hold a silent auction during the afternoon to raise additional funds.

Following the intrasquad game, O’s coaches and players, including 2009 All-Star and Gold Glove winner Adam Jones, will provide instruction for 100 pre-selected children from the Boys and Girls Clubs during an hour-long clinic on the main field at Ed Smith Stadium.
Also, on an unrelated note, have you heard that the O’s first T-Shirt Tuesday of the 2010 season (April 13 vs. the Tampa Bay Rays at 7:05 p.m.) will honor Matt Wieters and his new #32 on an Oriole orange Baltimore T-shirt?
The team made the announcement yesterday via the O’s Communications Department’s Twitter page, @BirdlandInsider.
