The Orioles found their 27th man for today’s doubleheader on their injured list.
Left-hander Grant Wolfram was reinstated today from the 15-day IL and will be in the bullpen for the two games against the Tigers.
Wolfram hasn’t pitched since May 6 due to a lower back strain. He’s posted a 4.85 ERA and 1.538 WHIP in 16 appearances, with seven earned runs (10 total), 19 hits, one walk and 20 strikeouts in 13 innings.
The home run total holds at zero. Wolfram has surrendered two in the majors over 37 games, both on July 18, 2025 against the Rays in Tampa.
So it’s never happened in a major league ballpark.
The injured list is down to 11 players.
Brandon Young makes his first career start against the Tigers in Game 1. Left-hander Framber Valdez is starting for Detroit.
Taylor Ward is 15-for-31 with a double and triple against Valdez, and he’s probably going to be the leadoff hitter today.
Leody Taveras is 9-for-26, Adley Rutschman is 6-for-16 with a double and home run, and Pete Alonso is 4-for-10.
Samuel Basallo has a line drive percentage of 35.7 percent this month, per STATS. His percentage was 24.1 percent before entering May.
