Orioles shut out in first round of voting for All-Star Game

None of the Orioles on the American League All-Star ballot rallied to advance to Phase 2 of voting.
The balloting concluded today at noon, with Phase 2 beginning at noon Monday.
Adley Rutschman finished fourth among catchers with 572,287 votes. First baseman Pete Alonso was fifth with 563,527, designated hitter Samuel Basallo was sixth with 311,655, shortstop Gunnar Henderson was sixth with 381,502, second baseman Jeremiah Jackson was ninth with 241,368, and outfielder Taylor Ward slid from 17th to 19th with 348,989.
Rutschman is on the seven-day concussion injured list but eligible to return Friday.
The Blue Jays have a representative at every position, and second baseman Ernie Clement is a starter because he received the most votes with 3,232,932.

Kirk has appeared in only 13 games due to a fractured left thumb that required surgery.
The Rangers’ Ezequiel Duran finished behind Clement at second base.
The Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani led the National League with 3,341,257 votes and will be the starting designated hitter.

The 96th Midsummer Classic will be played July 14 in Philadelphia.
