When the Orioles’ clubhouse opened to reporters a few minutes ago, Robert Andino knew what to expect. He was waiting by his locker for us to ask him about what happened between him and Yankees catcher Russell Martin at the end of the game last night.
“I was waiting for you all,” he said.
Andino said it was a miscommunication and said he did not expect it to have any carryover into tonight’s game.

He was waiting by his locker for us to ask him about what happened between him and Yankees catcher Russell Martin at the end of the game last night.
“I was waiting for you all,” he said.
Andino said it was a miscommunication and said he did not expect it to have any carryover into tonight’s game.
“You know, heat of the moment,” Andino said. “Boys being boys. Just had a few words. Nothing big.”
He was asked if Martin accused him of stealing signs or pointing out the expected location of Mariano Rivera’s pitches in the last of the ninth to other hitters after he had doubled.
“I guess so,” Andino said. “Just a misunderstanding I guess. Nothing really. He’s a catcher, he has his own opinion but it’s just a misunderstanding. Just another day, go out there and play ball.”
What did Martin say to him?
“To be honest with you, I don’t remember,” the Orioles second baseman said. “Ain’t nothing, just baseball stuff man. Everything’s cool now.
“No, I ain’t worried about it (tonight’s game). Something happens, something happens. I don’t think anything is going to happen. Just another day. But I ain’t a future teller, so I don’t know.”
He was asked how he would react if he got hit by a pitch tonight from New York starter Freddy Garcia.
“If he does (hit me), I’ll just get up and go to first,” Andino said.
So was Andino stealing signs or location of pitches last night?
“I don’t play like that,” he said. “It’s all good. Nothing going on. It’s all cool. It’s just a miscommunication.”
Was he glad he took up for himself?
“I don’t know,” Andino said. “I said what I had to say and that’s it.”
