Dylan Beavers is leading off again tonight, as the Orioles try to even their series against the Braves.
Beavers is in right field. Leody Taveras is in center.
Christian Encarnacion-Strand moves up to fifth and gets another start at third base.
Tyler O’Neill is the designated hitter tonight. He’s 7-for-16 during a six-game hitting streak.
Chadwick Tromp is catching again.
Brandon Young brings a 3.25 ERA into his 17th start. He held the Astros to one run in seven innings in his last outing after allowing three runs in seven innings against the Royals.
The Orioles are 3 1/3 games back in the Wild Card chase and tied with the Tigers. Four teams are ahead of them for the last spot.
Atlanta right-hander Bryce Elder has made 19 starts and posted a 4.06 ERA. It was 1.97 on May 22, but he allowed 24 runs and 35 hits in 26 2/3 innings in five June starts and has surrendered five earned runs (six total) with five homers in 10 innings this month.
Right-handers are hitting .306/.351/.490 against Elder and left-handers are hitting .205/.269/.351. He has a 3.31 ERA in 11 home starts and a 5.31 ERA in eight road games.
Elder allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings in his only career start against the Orioles. Pete Alonso is 4-for-14 with a double and home run against him.
And yes, it’s B. Young versus B. Elder.
