Orioles acquire OF Christian Franklin from Nationals for RHP Joe Glassey

The Orioles today announced they have acquired outfielder CHRISTIAN FRANKLIN from the Washington Nationals in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher JOE GLASSEY.
Frankin, 26, hit .249/.375/.360 (87-for-350) with 17 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 57 runs, 39 RBI, 65 walks, and 17 steals in 93 games this season with Triple-A Rochester. He was acquired by Washington from the Chicago Cubs on July 30, 2025, along with infielder Ronny Cruz, in exchange for right-handed pitcher Michael Soroka. The Overland Park, Kan. native was originally selected by the Cubs in the fourth round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Arkansas. He has not yet reported.
Glassey, 25, went 3-0 with a 2.64 ERA (9 ER/30.2 IP) and four saves on 13 total runs, 26 hits (1 HR), eight walks, one wild pitch, and 53 strikeouts over 24 relief appearances between High-A Frederick and Double-A Chesapeake this season. The Park Ridge, Ill. native originally signed with the Orioles as a minor league free agent on July 23, 2024.
