The Orioles have already won three straight series against the Red Sox for the first time since Sept. 17, 1990-June 30, 1991.
The Orioles are 21-1 when their rotation gives them a quality start. The only defeat came April 30 at New York, when Jason Hammel lost 2-1.
Since July 29, 2011, the Orioles are 37-3 when they get a quality start.
With one more victory in May, the Orioles will have recorded three consecutive winning months of 10-plus games (September 2011-May 2012) for the first time since September 2004-May 2005.
In 2012, the Orioles are 14-8 against the American League East and 14-8 against the rest of baseball. In 2011, they were 28-45 against the East and 41-48 against the rest of baseball.
The Orioles have scored one run while Jake Arrieta has been in the game in five of his nine starts. In his last seven starts combined, the Orioles have scored 12 runs while he was in the game.
The Orioles are 7-3 when their opponent starts a left-hander after going 19-28 when facing a lefty starter in 2011 and 18-33 in 2010.
The Orioles limited Boston to two hits Tuesday, the 13th time in their 944 meetings that they have held the Red Sox to two hits or less in a game. Tom Phoebus’ April 27, 1968 no-hitter was the only time the Orioles have held the Red Sox to fewer than two hits.
The Orioles are expecting more than 26,000 fans for today’s game. Approximately 6,000 are kids from local elementary schools.
