Down on the farm, Brian Roberts went 1-for-3 with a double today at Double-A Bowie. That’s two doubles in two days. Endy Chavez went 1-for-2 with a walk.
Roberts will report to Single-A Delmarva and start tomorrow and Wednesday unless the plan changes unexpectedly.
As for Chavez, the Orioles could be close to activating him from the disabled list.
NOTES: With Reynolds replacing Stu Pomeranz today, the Orioles have now made 32 roster moves involving 19 players in the month of May.
Since June 1, 2011 (149 games), Hardy is tied with Curtis Granderson and Matt Kemp for the second-most homers (38) behind Josh Hamilton’s 44. Jose Bautista is tied for sixth with 35.
In his last 10 games (since May 16), Davis is batting .405 (15-for-37) with a double, three homers, six RBIs, a .676 slugging percentage and a 1.086 OPS). Yes, he’s streaky.
Jones is 25-for-74 (.338) with three doubles, six homers, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored during his career-high 18-game hitting streak, the longest in the majors this season. It’s the longest by an Oriole since Markakis hit in 19 straight from June 8-30, 2011.
Wieters has two hits in his last 33 at-bats (.061) with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Avery has three hits in his last 27 at-bats (.111) with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.
