The Orioles used their 16th pick on pitcher Luc Rennie of Torrey Pines (Ca.) High School. Their 17th pick was used on pitcher Nick Grim of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.

That’s 12 pitchers chosen in the first 17 rounds.

Grim, a reliever, was 3-2 with a 4.74 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings. He’s listed at 6 foot 3, 190 pounds.

In the 18th round, the Orioles selected Stetson catcher Sam Kimmel, who was drafted by the Reds in the 35th round last year.

Kimmel, a left-handed hitter, batted .327/.414/.407 with one homer and 26 RBIs in 58 games.

In the 19th round, the Orioles took Old Mill High School left-hander Josh Hader.

Executive vice president Dan Duquette wants to bring more locals into the organization. This is the second Marylander chosen by the Orioles in the first 19 rounds.

Hader was 10-0 with a 0.39 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 72 2/3 innings. He allowed four earned runs and 23 hits and walked 21. Hader also batted .409 with four homers and 27 RBIs.
