A bomb, but the warehouse is safe

A bomb, but the warehouse is safe
Luke Scott hit a huge three-run homer, it was a bomb, but it didn't hit the Warehouse in case you were wondering. He hit it 412 feet down the right-field line onto Eutaw Street, but it would have needed to go 439 feet to reach the Warehouse. Still, off the bat it made you wonder, that was crushed. The three-run shot off A.J. Burnett in the fifth, gave the O's a 6-5 lead. It was Scott's 21st homer of the year. It was the 52nd homer in Camden Yards history onto Eutaw Street and the 22nd...

Will Adam Jones...

Will Adam Jones...
ever learn to hit the cutoff man. This is September and he is still making that basic mistake. It just happened on A-Rod's RBI single in the sixth. Jones, with no shot to get a speedy runner at the plate, overthrew the cutoff man by 10 feet, allowing A-Rod to practically walk into second. You wonder how mistakes like these happen time and time again. It could have been very damaging in a close game. Fortunately for the O's, Chris Ray struck out Posada and that play didn't hurt the team...

More with Adam Jones

More with Adam Jones
He wants to play again this year, but O's center fielder Adam Jones is trying to come to grips with the concept that he may not. Jones suffered a badly sprained left ankle last night vs. the Yankees. It will keep him out at least two to three weeks and his season may well be over with so little time left. "It's a tough injury, but I see myself playing again, it's just a matter of when. But this sucks, it just sucks. It's something you can't control. "It's frustrating, I haven't...

Waring wore out Carolina League pitching

Waring wore out Carolina League pitching
Not many O's fans will remember Stanton Cameron. But in 1992 he hit 29 homers for the Frederick Keys. His name is worth mentioning in a story about Brandon Waring because Cameron is the only player to ever hit more homers for Frederick than Waring did this year. The 23-year-old Waring, who joined Double-A Bowie on Tuesday, batted .273-26-90 this year with 35 doubles in 128 games for the Keys. That's one way to win a batting title

That's one way to win a batting title
In his first year in pro ball, Robbie Widlansky batted .181 for Aberdeen in 48 games in 2007. Now, the 24-year-old lefty hitter is just a few days away from likely claiming the batting title this year in the Carolina League. That's quite an accomplishment for a player that didn't play his first game for the Keys until May 22nd and who right now is not listed among the Carolina League batting leaders because he doesn't have enough plate appearances to qualify. Widlansky enters Friday's...

The only thing that changes is the first inning." Roberts isn't sure if this will become his spot for the rest of the year or not. "I don't know. It...
