Bundy hasn’t pitched since March. He tried to throw off flat ground from 90 feet recently and complained of more tightness in his flexor mass.
Bundy sought a second opinion from Andrews, which the Orioles supported.
An MRI on Bundy’s right elbow came back clean.
“We’re glad he saw Dr. Andrews and we’re going to try the therapy,” said executive vice president Dan Duquette.
“There’s no recommendation for surgery. Dr. Andrews prescribed six weeks of rest, which we expect he’ll continue in Sarasota.”
PRP is blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets and stimulates the healing of bone and soft tissue.
Zach Britton, tonight’s starter in Seattle, also received a PRP injection last spring because of chronic soreness and weakness in his left shoulder.
Here’s the Mariners’ lineup for tonight’s game against the Orioles, which includes center fielder Michael Saunders, who was activated from the disabled list today:
Michael Saunders CF
Kyle Seager 3B
Kendrys Morales 1B
Michael Morse RF
Jesus Montero C
Justin Smoak DH
Jason Bay LF
Robert Andino 2B
Brendan Ryan SS
Joe Saunders LHP
