A few extras from Trembley

I just realized that I don't own a snow shovel or a broom. This isn't good. I did stock up on food, and I have a bottle of Grey Goose in the freezer. I'm not totally unprepared. I wonder if the neighbors will laugh at me if I take a mop outside to knock the snow off my car. Or whether they'll laugh when I'm unable to find my car. I'll be standing on the roof and not even know it. Orioles manager Dave Trembley believes closer Mike Gonzalez can bring the same leadership and steadying influence to the bullpen that Kevin Millwood's expected to deliver to the rotation. "It's a win-win when you have two guys like that at both ends," he said during last night's Hot Stove Show. Trembley singled out Kam Mickolio as one reliever who could benefit from Gonzalez's presence. He noted that George Sherrill was a big help to Jim Johnson. Trembley also said his first phone call yesterday went to Brad Bergesen out in California. He thinks Bergesen also can be an innings-eater in this rotation. Since he's already fielding lineup questions in December, Trembley said he'll want to split up the lefties, and he'll have to determine the best spots for Nolan Reimold and Adam Jones. Hitting second in 81 games, Jones batted .305 with 15 homers and 54 RBIs. In a much smaller sampling, Reimold batted .239 with two homers and 13 RBIs in 13 games. Hitting fifth in 35 games, Reimold batted .293 with eight doubles, three homers and 17 RBIs. Hitting seventh in 18 games, he batted .297 with four doubles, five homers and 13 RBIs. We'll have to wait for the rest of the roster to take shape and see how guys are swinging the bats in spring training. Meanwhile, I'm heading outside to swing a mop at my car. Anyone have a pair of gloves I can borrow?
