Manager Buck Showalter decided to give Matt Angle his first start today for two reasons: He didn’t want Angle’s debut to come tomorrow night against Boston knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, and he didn’t want Angle to sit for two days.
Angle worked with outfield coach Wayne Kirby this morning, taking fly balls in left. Angle played every outfield position in spring training.

Showalter is hoping that Vladimir Guerrero will be ready to come off the disabled list when eligible on July 26. Guerrero’s injury is listed as a fractured right wrist.
Luke Scott is scheduled to bat third and serve as the designated hitter today at Double-A Bowie.
Alfredo Simon is flying to the Dominican Republic tonight, and he has a return flight to Baltimore tomorrow night. The Orioles are optimistic that he’ll be on it.
The Orioles can add a player for one day while Simon is on the restricted list, and it’s likely to be a pitcher, since Brad Bergesen is leaving the bullpen to make the start against the Red Sox.
Justin Duchscherer is scheduled to see another doctor after having his left hip examined Monday by team orthopedist Dr. John Wickens.
For the Indians:
Michael Brantley LF
Asdrubal Cabrera SS
Travis Hafner DH
Carlos Santana C
Grady Sizemore CF
Matt LaPorta 1B
Travis Buck RF
Lonnie Chisenhall 3B
Luis Valbuena 2B
Jeanmar Gomez RHP
