Brian Roberts passed his physical and walked onto Field 4 to greet manager Buck Showalter. Roberts was wearing shorts and a T-shirt and carrying two bats, a glove and a bottled water.

Showalter is walking around in a black windbreaker and carrying a fungo bat. Even during one drill where he rolled the ball to the pitchers, that bat stayed in his right hand.
