Aceves, 31, allowed five earned runs and 11 hits in 10 innings, with two walks and six strikeouts.

The Orioles signed Aceves to a minor league deal on Jan. 15 after he spent the last three seasons with the Red Sox, saving 25 games in 2012.

Evan Meek appears to have secured the last bullpen spot, but the Orioles continue to check the waiver wire. Meek, an All-Star with the Pirates in 2010, has allowed one run and two hits in eight innings.

The Orioles have 35 players in camp and need to get down to 25 by 3 p.m. Sunday, when they begin working out at Camden Yards in preparation for opening day.

Manager Buck Showalter indicated today that most of the remaining cuts will be made Saturday. The Orioles are scheduled to play Triple-A Norfolk at Harbor Park.

As for tonight’s game, James Loney’s RBI double broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth and Ubaldo Jimenez was removed with one out.
