Adam Jones had an RBI double and two-run homer and Jason Hammel got his second Orioles win as the Birds take the series, three wins to one.

The Orioles improve to 5-2 on this seven-game road trip which continues Friday night in Anaheim. They are now 6-2 in games decided by two runs or less.

Jones’ double in the first gave the O’s a 1-0 lead and his two-run homer in the fifth made it a 5-2 score after J.J Hardy’s sac fly had broken a 2-2 tie. Jones began today just 1-for-10 when batting with runners in scoring position, but went 2-for-2 in this game with RISP. He now is batting .321 with five homers and eight RBIs.

Hammel threw 108 pitches in picking up the win. Over six innings he gave up six hits and two runs. He walked three and tied his career high with ten strikeouts. Hammel is now 2-0 with an ERA of 2.08.

This was just the second O’s quality start over the last 10 games since the season-opening series.

Baltimorean Gavin Floyd gave up five runs over six innings to take the loss and fall to 1-2.

The Orioles are now 19-11 in their last 30 games dating to last season.
