After long road trip, the Orioles are excited to return to Camden Yards

It has been two weeks and a day since the Orioles played a game at Camden Yards where fans could attend, and the players, to say the least, are excited to be back in front of their home crowd tonight.

ALCS-Adam-Jones-homer.jpg"Feels good, missed my own bed," center fielder Adam Jones said. "We had to do what we had to do, but we are glad to be back here in Baltimore. I know people here missed baseball and they missed those three games that were supposed to be here.

"I know the places around here, Sliders and those places, missed baseball. I drive by there and it's always rocking. Always a lot of people out there and I know they generate good money. Might try to look to invest in them."

Sports can unify a city and after a turbulent few weeks for Baltimore, the Orioles would love to do their part to help that.

"Sports has always been that bridge," Jones said. "For three hours, you get away from your own reality. Go to the park and watch a great game. Sports has been that way as long as I can remember."

Some fans are calling tonight ReOpening Day. They are hoping for good attendance this evening and that fans patronize local businesses that were impacted by the unrest in the city.

"I hadn't heard about it, but I think it's a cool idea," closer Zach Britton said. "Just nice to be home and get in a nice rhythm. That is kind of what we need right now, to get reset a bit and get back to playing the way we know we can.

"It is nice to get home. We appreciate our fans a lot more. We know we have good fans anyway, but nice to be back home."

Catcher Caleb Joseph also talked about the return to Camden Yards.

"We're excited," he said. "The fans, they mean so much to us. They show up and support us. Tired of playing in visiting stadiums. We're ready to get a home field advantage."

The Orioles are 6-4 at home this year and 7-12 on the road. They have a certain comfort level in their own park.

"We are really familiar with the way the ball flies here and the dimensions of the field and I think home field advantage is important to just know the fans are behind you. We feed off the energy they give you. It definitely makes a difference," Joseph said.
