The Orioles go for the series in Seattle this afternoon with red-hot Blaze Alexander at third base again.

Alexander is batting .410/.451/.588 since the beginning of May. He had three more hits last night.

Adley Rutschman is the designated hitter today. Colton Cowser is in center field and Leody Taveras is in right.

Shane Baz makes his 15th start with the Orioles. He’s posted a 4.06 ERA in 82 innings.

Baz’s ERA was 5.48 on May 9 before he allowed 10 earned runs in his next six starts over 37 2/3 innings.

In his only career start against Seattle, Baz tossed six scoreless innings with five hits allowed on Sept. 1, 2025 in Tampa.

Baz has increased the groundball rate on his fastball from 15.2 percent in his first six starts to 39.6 percent in his next eight.

Bryan Woo faced the Orioles in his last start and allowed seven runs and seven hits in five innings to raise his ERA to 4.28. Cowser and Pete Alonso homered in a six-run third inning.

Taveras is 2-for-13 with a home run against Woo. Taylor Ward is 1-for-15 with six strikeouts.

Taveras’ four triples are a career high. He drove in a run last night.

Woo is 4-0 with a 2.37 ERA and 0.711 WHIP in six home starts this season and 1-5 with a 5.93 ERA and 1.318 WHIP in eight road games.

The Mariners are one of the worst teams in the majors with runners in scoring position, posting a .226 average that ranks 28th.
