Single-A Frederick shortstop Pedro Florimon has been named Carolina League’s Player of the Week for games played between July 5 and July 11. He went 8-for-18 with five extra base hits during that span.
Florimon, who began the year at Double-A Bowie and later went on the disabled list with an oblique injury, is the third Keys player to earn the honor since the break, joining first baseman Joe Mahoney and left-hander Nathan Moreau.
Double-A Bowie’s Joel Guzman was chosen to participate in the Eastern League’s All-Star Game, but he won’t be available. It’s a non-injury issue. He had a previous commitment and can’t attend the game.
