Kevin Millwood turned in another quality start, allowing three runs in eight innings. Manager Dave Trembley visited the mound with two outs and runners on second and third, but he went back to the dugout without his No. 1 starter.
Millwood completed the inning, and stifled the rally, by retiring Alberto Callaspo on a fly ball to left. The last out came on his 120th pitch.
Millwood allowed 10 hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out seven. Will Ohman has replaced him in the ninth.
