Brian Roberts said he probably batted third in college.
Tonight, he’ll hit third in the Orioles’ lineup for the first time ever as a Major Leaguer.
“Dave asked me about if I cared, I don’t care, it’s just a spot in the lineup,” Roberts said.
“I’m going to try and hit homers,” Roberts joked. “No, I’ll do what I normally do. The only thing that changes is the first inning.”
Roberts isn’t sure if this will become his spot for the rest of the year or not.

“I don’t know. It could be. If we don’t score any runs today it may be for just one day.”
Meanwhile, Roberts next double will be his 50th on the year. When he gets there, he’ll become the fourth player in Major League history with three or more 50-double seasons.
The others to do that – Tris Speaker, Paul Waner and Stan Musial – are in the Hall of Fame.
“It’s one of those things that a long time from now I might look back on. It’s just a number really. It may be something that I keep a ball and share with my grandkids someday.
“Anytime you are in the company of Hall of Famers it’s kind of cool. I don’t want to downplay it to the point where you don’t respect the guys that have done it before. They are incredible guys that have played this game.”
