Maybe the Orioles will bring their bats.

The Orioles have one hit since Manny Machado’s home run in the fifth inning, and it came from a player who wasn’t in the starting lineup. Robert Andino, a defensive replacement for Ryan Flaherty, singled in the 10th and moved to second on Machado’s sacrifice bunt. Nate McLouth lined into a double play to keep the score tied.

Chavez struck out in the 11th.

Left-hander Brian Matusz retired the Yankees in order in the bottom of the 11th after replacing Jim Johnson, who rebounded with a 1-2-3 10th inning.

The Orioles were 16-2 in extra innings during the regular season and won 16 in a row. Their two losses came against the Yankees in April.

According to @ESPNStatsInfo, which has been a handy resource tonight, the Yankees have won the last six postseason games of 11-plus innings at Yankee Stadium, their last loss coming in 1998.

Update: Raul Ibanez did it again. He homered on the first pitch thrown by Matusz in the bottom of the 12th to give the Yankees a 3-2 win over the Orioles.

Matusz threw a 91 mph cutter, and Ibanez launched it into the right-field seats. You knew it was gone as soon as it left his bat.

A scoring change awarded Mark Reynolds with a single in the top of the 12th on a pop up that fell in front of the mound.
