Second baseman Jonathan Schoop will fly down to Sarasota on Sunday while the Orioles head to Anaheim to begin their West Coast trip. Schoop could begin playing in extended spring training games on Wednesday as he continues his recovery from a strained oblique.
Showalter has a target date for Schoop’s return that he’s not making public.
Closer Zach Britton threw off a full mound again today. The news remains positive.
Mark Trumbo could be activated from the disabled list for Tuesday night’s game in Anaheim. He’s working out today at Camden Yards and will join Triple-A Norfolk on Friday in Charlotte.
Trumbo will play at least two games with the Tides.
Norfolk catcher Andrew Susac has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with an ankle injury.
Susac is batting .359/.479/.615 with four doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs in 11 games. He reached base in each game.
