If you could read Juan Samuel’s mind right now, you’d be blushing.
The Orioles turned a 3-6-1 double play in the eighth inning, with reliever Frank Mata covering first base. They executed it perfectly.
Too bad Mata lost track of the outs.
Mata tossed the ball toward the mound, then realized his mistake and chased after it. The bases were empty, so no harm done, but it was another mental lapse.

A lot of people in this organization are wearing Trembley’s expression tonight. He must have stored a box of them in a back room.
Down on the farm, Brandon Snyder hit his third home run for Triple-A Norfolk. Jim Miller tossed three scoreless innings in relief, striking out three.
Matt Hobgood took the loss for Single-A Delmarva after allowing four runs (two earned) and eight hits in seven innings, with one walk and seven strikeouts. He’s 3-5 with a 4.40 ERA.
Reliever Jim Hoey tossed two scoreless innings, with three strikeouts, for Double-A Bowie. His fastball has been clocked in the mid-to-upper 90s. Tyler Henson hit his fifth homer for the Baysox.
