Pitcher Brad Bergesen joined the Orioles in New York, another sign that he’s starting Wednesday night’s game at Yankee Stadium. However, nothing has come easily to Bergesen, so he’ll naturally be at the mercy of the weather.
It isn’t raining in New York as I type this entry, but the forecast is ominous. We’ll find out later how a postponement tonight would affect the rotation for the rest of the series.

I’ve been asked multiple times about the Orioles’ timetable for promoting shortstop Manny Machado to the next level of the farm system. They haven’t set a firm date. Much of it will depend, of course, on how Machado is playing. A prolonged slump will keep him at low Single-A Delmarva.
If Machado continues on his torrid pace, he’ll likely move up to high Single-A Frederick by the break. It could happen sooner, but I doubt that he’ll only spend a month in the South Atlantic League before bolting. He’s 18 and playing his first full season in the minors.
