Garrett Jones fell behind 0-2 before lining a double to right-center field, the ball glancing off Adam Jones’ glove as he dived for it. Felix Pie and Cesar Izturis struck out to begin the game, but Jones tripled to center field and Miguel Tejada and Matt Wieters walked to load the bases. Luke Scott followed with a two-run single to right field after Zach Duke again fell behind in the count, and Ty Wigginton bounced an RBI single to left.

Lou Montanez punched a single to right to load the bases, but Justin Turner – the ninth batter of the inning – bounced to third.
