It looks that way.
I woke up to a flashing red light on my BlackBerry and a text message that Brad Bergesen is heading to the minors.
I’m assuming that president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail would prefer that I not attempt to contact him at 3 a.m., so confirmation will have to wait until later. But I trust the person who’s alerting me.

Time to use one of them.
Jason Berken, with 3 1/3 scoreless innings tonight, eventually could move into the rotation once the Orioles need another starter (their first open date on the schedule is Thursday, so a turn can be skipped, and they have another one on Monday.) His ERA’s down to 1.50. Jake Arrieta allowed one earned run in six innings in Triple-A Norfolk’s loss to Gwinnett last night, and his ERA sits at 0.50.
I’d say that it’s too soon for Arrieta, but I never expected Bergesen to go down to Norfolk this early.
Bergesen figured to receive at least one more start, but he’s getting worse. So is the Orioles’ season. I guess the move makes sense from that standpoint.
What doesn’t make sense is how I’m sitting on my couch at 3 a.m. instead of going back to sleep. This news probably could have waited.
Time to check the fridge.
