Bergy's on the mound (part 2)

Bergy's on the mound (part 2)

Not a good first inning for Brad Bergesen. The Pirates loaded the bases with no outs and scored twice to take a 2-0 lead. The inning included a costly error by second baseman Ty Wigginton, who failed to backhand Ryan Doumit's grounder up the middle as the second run scored. Garrett Jones drove in the first one with a sacrifice fly. Bobby Crosby struck out on three pitches and Brandon Moss grounded to short to end the rally. Bergesen threw 16 pitches, nine for strikes. He allowed two hits and walked a batter. Felix Pie reached on an infield hit leading off the bottom of the first, and he just stole second base. Meanwhile, here's the biggest upset of the day: Peter Schmuck is eating an orange in the press box, and it isn't wrapped in bacon. Part 2: Bergesen allowed a one-out double to No. 9 hitter Luke Carlin in the second inning, but the Pirates didn't score. Bergesen got two fly balls and a popup while throwing seven of his nine pitches for strikes. Over in For Myers, Chris Tillman has retired the first six batters he's faced. Lou Montanez singled in the first inning for the game's only hit.
