Brad Bergesen needed only nine pitches, including seven strikes, to get through the second inning. His count stands at 30.
Tug Hulett reached on a two-out bunt single, but Mike Cameron flied to right.
Bill Hall grounded out to begin the inning, and Jeremy Hermida became Bergesen's first strikeout victim.
Brandon Snyder hit a wind-blown ground-rule double in the top of the second, and Craig Tatum was hit by a pitch, but the Orioles didn't score.
Justin Turner singled to lead off the third, making him 2-for-2 against Tim Wakefield. He took third on Lou Montanez's single, so the Orioles have runners on the corners with no outs. Stay tuned for an instant update.
And here it is: Luke Scott just lined a three-run homer into the first row of seats in right field to give the Orioles a 4-0 lead. He's driven in all four runs.
Wakefield made him look foolish on an 0-1 knuckler, and Scott walked out of the batter's box and pounded the barrel end of his bat into the dirt. He worked the count to 2-2 before hitting his first home run.
Update II: Pedro Florimon singled to drive in another run and increase the lead to 5-0 in the third. The inning ended with Jonathan Tucker hitting a sharp grounder that nailed Florimon. Otherwise, it was a perfectly executed hit-and-run.
Tucker is credited with a hit, the ninth for the Orioles today. Wakefield has nailed two batters, including Brandon Snyder, but I doubt that he's raising any welts.
