After scoring 13 runs on 20 hits last night, this afternoon Toronto hammered its way to an 8-6 win over the Orioles. Brett Lawrie’s two-run homer in the eighth off Willie Eyre broke a 6-6 tie. Yunel Escobar added four hits and two RBIs and is batting .397 this year against Orioles pitching.

Starter Tommy Hunter struggled again, giving up six runs (five earned) over six innings. He has an ERA of 6.14 in six starts with the Orioles and has given up four runs or more four times.

Vlad Guerrero had a season-high four RBIs for the Orioles. He had three hits, two doubles and a two-run homer. He and Matt Wieters hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning. It was number 16 for Wieters, who also had an RBI double.

Over his last 11 games, Wieters is batting .410 with five homers and 14 RBIs.

Toronto improves to 10-5 this year against the Orioles and 25-8 versus Baltimore since the start of the 2010 season. The Blue Jays are 30-12 in the last 42 games between these teams. Toronto scored 26 runs on 42 hits in the three-game series. After Toronto set a season-high with 10 extra-base hits last night, they added seven today.

The Orioles were trying for just their third winning homestand of the season, but ended it going 3-4.

The Orioles fall to 32-39 at home, 17-35 against the American League East and 54-81 on the season. The begin a nine-game road trip Friday night against Tampa Bay.
