Lynchburg leads Single-A Frederick 1-0 after four innings at Harry Grove Stadium. The Bundy already with the Orioles, Bobby, is on the mound for the Keys tonight, making his 12th start. He begins tonight with a 6-3 record and ERA of 2.73 that is eighth best in the Carolina League.

The Hillcats scored off Bundy in the first when he walked the leadoff batter and the next hitter followed with a single. After a sac bunt, an Adam Milligan groundout put Lynchburg up 1-0.

Bundy’s command was off a bit in the first, but he quickly got it back, getting 1-2-3 innings in the second and third.

He retired 10 in a row until giving up a single and walk in the top of the fourth, but pitched out of that jam.

Frederick has just one hit, a Kipp Schutz double in the fourth. Joe Mahoney, batting third, walked his first time up and he had reached base in six straight plate appearances since joining Frederick last night. That streak ended when he struck out in the fourth.

Mahoney, who came off the disabled list Friday, is only expected to be with the Keys a few days before rejoining Double-A Bowie on Tuesday when the Baysox return home from a road trip.

Updated: Well, Bundy was pitching well, but was lifted from the game in the top of the fifth when Lynchburg scored twice. Bundy hit a batter and walked another in that inning. There was a bizarre play on the bases when the Hillcats had the bases loaded and no outs. A grounder was hit to second and it looked to be a conventional double play, but shortstop Jonathan Schoop dropped the flip throw near the second base bag. That led to a mess on the bases which ended with Lynchburg scoring twice and Frederick getting two outs. I’d try to describe it, but I could never do it justice.

Bundy’s final line: 4 2/3 innings pitched, four hits, three runs, two earned runs, three walks and three strikeouts. He threw around 90 pitches.
