It appears that the comeback of right-handed pitcher Brandon Erbe, the Orioles third-round pick in 2005, has hit another roadblock. Erbe had been pitching well and was pain-free for Single-A Frederick, but after two straight poor outings, has been placed on the Keys’ disabled list today.
For now, Erbe is being shut down due to more shoulder issues. It’s possible he won’t be able to return this year. Erbe had been on the comeback trail from labrum surgery in August of 2010.

He had an ERA of 3.94 through nine games, pitching out of Frederick’s bullpen, but on Saturday he gave up four runs and three hits in one inning.
Then, he came on the 13th inning last night, and Erbe walked all five batters he faced, taking the loss as Wilmington beat Frederick 12-6 in 13 frames.
Erbe is expected to soon see Orioles team doctors.
In this story I wrote about Erbe a month ago, he said he was feeling the best he had felt since his surgery and his velocity had been coming back.
