Dr. Michael Collins, the concussion specialist in Pittsburgh, reported today that second baseman Brian Roberts is improving and has been given the green light to increase his workload in Sarasota. He can amp up the baseball activities.
However, no timetable has been established for Roberts to go on a rehab assignment in the minors. Don’t look for him in the lineup anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Nick Markakis’ two-run single in the third inning reduced Cleveland’s lead to 4-2.
However, Markakis popped up the first pitch from Indians starter Justin Masterson in the fifth inning after Craig Tatum singled and J.J. Hardy doubled with one out. Adam Jones struck out, and the Orioles continue to trail by two runs.
Update: Jeremy Guthrie lasted five-plus innings. He left the game trailing, 4-2, and Mark Hendrickson let both inherited runners score.
Guthrie is charged with six runs and five hits, with four walks, two strikeouts and a hit batter. He threw 103 pitches, 57 for strikes.
Guthrie has allowed 12 runs and 14 hits, with seven walks in his last two starts covering 10 innings. He hasn’t completed six innings in three of his last four outings, four of six and five of eight.
Tonight’s attendance: 20,780
Update II: The Orioles scored twice in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double by Derrek Lee and run-scoring single from Blake Davis. Indians 8, Orioles 4.
Hendrickson was charged with two runs in two-thirds of an inning. Jason Berken let both inherited runners score.
