Don’t look now, but maybe the Orioles are finally starting to put some together.

After scoring 11 runs in the win over Florida on Thursday, they scored seven in the comeback win last night. The O’s output of 18 runs is their most over any two-game stretch of this year.

For the first time all year they have four straight games with ten hits or more.

Over the last two games, the O’s are batting .448 (13 for 29) with runners in scoring position.

The Orioles have hit six homers over the past four games after hitting just five over the previous 15 contests.

The Orioles have scored 27 runs over the last four games on 50 hits.

So that is progress and a lot better than what we have been seeing for most of this season.

There doesn’t seem to be any explanation for why the offense has come now except for the fact that the team was due to hit eventually – likely well overdue at that.

Maybe some of the players took note when Nick Markakis said you need to have a clue when you go up to the plate.

Markakis, by the way, is batting .364 over his last 17 games and Adam Jones is hitting .347 over his last 18 contests. Miguel Tejada ended a long homer drought on Thursday and even Matt Wieters chipped in with 6 RBI over a recent two-game stretch.

The offensive futility could not last forever although it was looking like it might.

As we get into these steamy days at Camden Yards, the ball sure travels better as well.
