Zach Britton is lined up for his fifth win of the season, which again comes across as pretty impressive for a guy who wasn’t supposed to be in the majors.
Britton held the White Sox to one run over six innings, allowing five hits, walking three and striking out one. He threw 96 pitches and lowered his ERA to 2.63.
This wasn’t Britton at his best, but the Orioles will take it.

Head athletic trainer Richie Bancells was checking Britton’s left hand after the sixth. Maybe a callus or blister.
Nice decision to start Felix Pie today. He had a single and triple off Gavin Floyd, who gave up six runs in six innings.
Luke Scott and Mark Reynolds have homered today, and Nick Markakis contributed a three-run double. Reynolds was in a 3-for-41 slump before today. Markakis was 9-for-57.
Derrek Lee is 0-for-4 with four strikeouts, which won’t quiet fans who want him batting lower in the order.
Update: The bullpen isn’t doing Britton any favors. Adam Dunn just hit a two-run homer off Jim Johnson with two outs in the eighth to reduce the lead to 6-4. Jason Berken was charged with a run after allowing a hit and walking two batters in one-third of an inning after replacing Britton.
Before today, the bullpen was 1-2 with a 6.37 ERA over the last 11 games. Berken and Johnson have combined to allow three runs in two innings.
