Britton, French and Klimek expected back in 2026 (Anders won't return)
The Orioles’ coaching staff for the 2026 season has three confirmed outside hires and three likely holdovers.
A source confirmed tonight that Buck Britton, Drew French and Ryan Klimek are expected to remain with the Orioles.
Britton finished as third base coach and infield instructor after Tony Mansolino was named interim manager. French completed his second season as pitching coach. Klimek has served as pitching strategy coach since 2023.
Another source said earlier today that Britton might remain at third base but details had to be worked out and nothing was official. The team definitely had shown interest in retaining him.
Britton was promoted from Triple-A manager to major league coach prior to the 2025 season, but Orioles manager Brandon Hyde was fired on May 17, which led to a reshuffling of the staff.
New manager Craig Albernaz has connections to the three new hires, which illustrates his input in the process.
Dustin Lind was named hitting coach, replacing Cody Asche, who moved on to the Tigers as assistant hitting coach. Lind worked as Phillies' assistant hitting coach for the past two seasons and was the Giants’ director of hitting and assistant hitting coach from 2020-23, which established his relationship with Albernaz.
The Orioles hired Jason Bourgeois as first base coach and likely outfield instructor as Anthony Sanders’ replacement. Sanders went to the Tigers in the same role.
Albernaz and Bourgeois were teammates with the Triple-A Durham Bulls. Bourgeois spent the past two seasons as first base and outfield coach with the White Sox.
More news broke earlier today with Donnie Ecker’s hiring as bench coach. He’s replacing Robinson Chirinos.
Ecker served as Rangers' bench coach and offensive coordinator from 2022-24. He worked only as offensive coordinator this season until his dismissal on May 4.
Albernaz and Ecker were on the same Giants’ staff.
The latest information on Britton, French and Klimek came first from MLB.com and The Baltimore Banner.
Update: Per a source, Grant Anders won't return as major league development coach, creating another change in the 2026 coaching staff.
Anders was promoted from major league player development analyst in 2024, a role he held since December 2021. He previously was Double-A Bowie's development coach, with his hiring in November 2019.
