The Orioles made room on the 40-man roster for Izturis by designating pitcher Brandon Erbe (McDonogh) for assignment.
Erbe has made a slow recovery from surgery on Aug. 13, 2010 to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
Erbe is 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA in four games (two starts) for short-season Single-A Aberdeen. He’s allowed four earned runs and five hits in 3 2/3 innings.
The intrigue continues here.
First baseman Chris Davis was scratched from the lineup due to a “manager’s decision,” according to a team spokesman. Buck Showalter will address the issue after tonight’s game.
It’s just another day at Camden Yards.
