The Orioles drafted Hunter Harvey with the 22nd pick in round one on June 6. Could this deal get finalized today?
“I hope so,” Bryan Harvey said. “That comes as great news. Soon he can go play baseball.”
Harvey would not say exactly what is left to complete to get the deal to an agreement, but it sounds like this negotiation is in the very final stages.
How soon could Hunter begin his O’s career?
“I don’t know. I’m sure they have a schedule and a plan. Once it gets finalized, we’ll find out more details,” Bryan Harvey said.
Hunter Harvey is a right-hander from Bandys High School in Catawba, N.C., and was rated by Baseball America as the 33rd-best player overall and the seventh-best right-hander in the draft after a senior year where he went 8-0 with an ERA of 0.38. Over 54 2/3 innings, he gave up just two extra-base hits, both doubles, and fanned 116.
In an interview earlier this week, Bryan Harvey felt his son could get signed this week and that appears to be where negotiations are headed. It could get finalized today.
