It appears that could be Britton’s final start in the minors this year before he possibly returns to pitch Saturday for the Orioles at Yankee Stadium.

Britton is 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in two starts over seven innings with the Baysox, giving up six hits and three runs with two walks and six strikeouts.

I asked him how he felt about his two Baysox outings.

“I think stats-wise, not so great. But my goal when they sent me down, in talking to Rick Adair and Buck (Showalter), was to make sure I had a plan here for every day. Every day make sure I have something I want to do,” Britton said.

“Like throw an offspeed pitch in a situation where I would not up there, but it’s another weapon for me. I have given up some hits on offspeed pitches where I normally wouldn’t do it, but I feel it’s going to benefit me to throw that now and not worry about, gosh, I am going to walk this guy or give up a hit. At the end of the day, it’s not about dominating here, it’s about being better up there.”

Britton was optioned here July 9 after going 6-7 with a 4.05 ERA in 19 starts with the Orioles.

He will likely throw five or six innings in the game tomorrow.

Update: Bowie manager Gary Kendall will be fine to manage tonight’s game. He was taken across the street earlier this afternoon to Bowie Health Center dealing with dehydration. Kendall has returned to Prince George’s Stadium and said they got some fluids in him and he feels great.
