Chris Davis and Mike Wright Jr. traded in baseballs for beanbags and joined Ravens, Redskins and other local sports celebrities for the second annual Players Philanthropy Fund Beltway Boards & Brews Celebrity Cornhole Tournament at the Baltimore Museum of Industry.
The tournament benefited a variety of charities, all through the Players Philanthropy Fund, which was founded by former Ravens kicker and two-time Super Bowl champion Matt Stover, enables athletes and other philanthropists by helping them create dedicated funds that can accept tax-deductible contributions for their charity endeavors. Currently, the organization helps serve more than 65 charities across the nation.
Davis flexed his cornhole skills for the Casey Cares Foundation, which provides uplifting programming to critically ill children and their families. The Orioles first baseman has been involved with the foundation for years now through various events, including the Casey Cares 5K at Oriole Park.
Wright was also playing for a cause close to his heart. In 2014, Wright’s mother was diagnosed with dementia, which inspired him to start his own charity, Wright State of Mind. Through the event, Wright was able to raise funds and awareness for his charity, which supports dementia research and provides resources to those affected by dementia.
For more on the event (spoiler alert – Ravens kicker Justin Tucker won the whole thing) and to hear from Davis, Wright and Stover, check out the latest edition of “MASN All Access” below!
