Chris Davis hit a big three-run homer in the seventh inning on opening day last year as the Orioles won on the road against Tampa Bay.
Does he have one in him today?
Davis said his opening day excitement began to build hours ago.
“There is nothing like it,” he said. “Getting ready this morning, driving to the field, you can feel the energy and excitement. Once you get here and see everyone moving around and get in the rhythm of things, it’s awesome. You can’t duplicate it.”

Is it hard for a player to control his emotions in an opener?
“I think with all the pregame ceremonies, that is kind of when you get your bearings straight and kind of get your head right. There is plenty of time to settle in. Once the game starts, that is where I feel right at home,” Davis said.
“It’s make sure you don’t trip on the carpet (during introductions) or fall out of the dugout when they call your name. It’s a long run, too, coming all the way from center field.
“You know, it’s a cool experience. A couple of years ago, I got to do it for the first time. The fans were going crazy. It’s pretty special.”
Remember Davis’ ridiculous start to the 2013 season? After four games, he was batting .600 with three doubles, four homers and 16 RBIs.
Davis’ 16 RBIs easily topped the major league record of 12 for the season’s first four games, set previously by the Orioles’ Charles Johnson in 2000, by St. Louis’ Mark McGwire in 1998 and by Philadelphia’s Dolph Camilli in 1935.
After a productive spring, Davis has proclaimed the Orioles ready to make a run at an AL East title.
“We’re as ready as we’ll ever be,” he said. “Confidence comes from preparation and trusting guys in this clubhouse. We’re ready to roll.”
