Davis has been named the American League’s Player of the Week for the period ending June 12. Major League Baseball made the announcement this afternoon.

This is the fourth AL Player of the Week award for Davis, the last on June 2, 2013.

Davis paced the majors in home runs, slugging percentage (1.211) and total bases (23), was tied for first in extra-base hits (six) and tied for third in RBIs.

In Thursday’s series opener against the Blue Jays, Davis hit a game-tying home run in the seventh inning and delivered a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the ninth.

Davis’ home run streak is the second-longest of his career. He homered in six straight games from Sept. 26-Oct. 2, 2012.

Davis joins Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson as the only players in club history to homer in six consecutive games (July 18-23, 1976).

Since the beginning of the 2012 season, Davis leads the majors with 175 home runs.

Orioles third baseman Manny Machado also received consideration for the weekly award.

Meanwhile, Single-A Delmarva shortstop Ryan Mountcastle was named the South Atlantic League’s Player of the Week after batting .469 (15-for-32) with five doubles, two home runs, five RBIs and seven runs scored.

Mountcastle, the 36th overall pick in the 2015 amateur draft, is hitting .360 (40-for-111) in his last 30 games to raise his average to .285.
