The Orioles are now 11-6 when leading after seven innings after going 52-5 in those situations last year.
Bergesen on when the umpires spoke to him about not pitching on the rubber: “I definetly was pitching from the rubber. It’s something that happens sometimes unintentionally. It’s not something that happens on purpose. It was the right call. I got into about an eight-pitch wack there, then settled down and other than that, felt good tonight.”
Bergesen on retiring 14 in a row at one point: “After about the second inning Kranny was talking to me to let me know my hand was getting on the side of the ball and I was pulling it across instead of getting out in front and really driving in down through. I tried to concentrate on that.”
Bergesen on watching the relievers give up the lead: “There were a couple of bad, bad breaks right there. Every reliever we have, they are laying it on the line and giving it all they got. They will continue to do so.”
Bergesen, did the 8th inning sum up the whole season?: “I don’t really think so. It’s not like we are getting those every single game. Tonight there were some unlucky breaks that were crucial in the game.”
Hendrickson on the O’s losing the lead: “That’s baseball. We stand up here and we lost the game and it’s not a good feeling. It tests your character and for me, my belief in myself. It’s tough, we did everything we possibly could do to win a game and it didn’t work out so it’s not easy.”
Hendrickson on Bergesen: “He did a great job of kinding of getting back into it after the first few innings he was searching for his rhythm a little bit. It’s tough to stand up here and answer questions because it’s hard to process within 15 minutes after the game.”
Wigginton on the 8th: “That’s the way it seems to be going a lot this year. Somehow we have to find a way to get through those innings. Bergesen stayed down in the zone and mixed in some good breaking balls.”
