Clutch homer: Reimold’s blast in ninth carries O’s past Toronto

Nolan Reimold came into this Toronto series batting just .238, but he now has five hits in the last two days, including a very big one today in the top of the ninth.
Reimold’s two-run homer broke a 4-4 tie and gave the Orioles a 6-4 win at Toronto. He is 5-for-10 in the series with two doubles, two homers and three RBIs.
The Orioles went 4-23 in Toronto from 2009-2011, but now have a series win there for the first time since June 2008 and can sweep this series Sunday.

Wilson Betemit’s error in the sixth opened the door for Toronto to score twice and take a 4-3 lead, but Betemit then hit a solo homer in the eighth to tie the game and set the stage for Reimold’s homer to win it.
The Orioles hit three homers on the day, have six in the series and 13 on the year.
Starter Jason Hammel gave up two early runs but allowed just two over five innings and 97 pitches. Luis Ayala got the win in relief and Jim Johnson pitched the last of the ninth to record his fourth save.
The Orioles, who began the day in a four-way tie for the American League East lead, are now 5-3 while the Blue Jays fall to 4-4.
The Orioles are now 4-2 in games decided by two runs or less.
On Sunday afternoon, the Orioles will be looking for their first three-game sweep at Toronto since April 2005 when Brian Matusz pitches against Kyle Drabek.
