Chris Davis had the starring role tonight and a crush of reporters around his locker. Crush, get it? But other Orioles had a few things to say after the comeback win.
Steve Johnson about the feeling on the bench in the last of the seventh:
“It was awesome. We got on a roll. Even over the last few days, we’ve hit the ball hard and we always have the thought we can come back. We piled it on.”
Chris Tillman on his outing:

Steve Johnson about the feeling on the bench in the last of the seventh:
“It was awesome. We got on a roll. Even over the last few days, we’ve hit the ball hard and we always have the thought we can come back. We piled it on.”
Chris Tillman on his outing:
“Not very good. Fell behind a lot. Call it poor execution and poor game plan, you know, probably a little bit of both. I carried some good stuff. I just wasn’t able to execute some pretty important counts.”
Tillman on the ball carrying tonight:
“It’s tough, but you have to pitch to the conditions. You have to make good pitches. It can be a completely different ballpark the way it plays (on a warm night), but that is no excuse. Steve Johnson did a helluva job tonight, he pitched his butt off for us. That comeback was fun to watch. Glad Chris Davis is on my side.”
Manny Machado on Davis:
“It’s impressive. It’s crazy to watch that. He has been leading us to some good wins. He’s been doing it the whole year. Every homer he hits from now on is just another one. He has impressive pop and is a tremendous hitter.”
Machado on the comeback:
“It’s huge, you are talking about one of the best pitchers in the game right now. He had one bad inning. To come back like that is huge for the team. This was a big win for us.”
More notes on the win:
* The Orioles’ six runs in the last of the seventh tied their season high for runs in an inning (also bottom of eighth, May 17 vs. Tampa Bay).
* Davis produced his fourth career multi-homer game. He has hit six homers in his last eight games, eight in his last 12 and 10 in his past 19 games.
* Machado went 1-for-5 with another double. He began the night tied with Miguel Cabrera for the most hits in the majors with 76 and leading the big leagues with 23 doubles.
